Ruth Barker – ‘The Kid Specialist’ has been a Montessori and mainstream Play and Learning Specialist for many years. She currently works with extra needs children from toddlerhood through to six years of age, as well as tutoring children in literacy and numeracy from kindergarten, through to year 7.

Ruth specialises in assisting those with developmental delay or learning disorder - having worked with ADD, ADHD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Chromosome 17q Deletion, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Gross and Fine Motor Delay, Hearing Impairment, Language Delay and Disorders, Mild Form Cerebral Palsy, Rubenstein-Taybi Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorders and Speech Delay, whilst she completes a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Southern Cross University.

On top of this Ruth remains as a consultant for childcare professionals, caregivers and parents. She has experience as a web and magazine columnist and, as a presenter on many development, play and learning topics for both professionals and parents alike. Ruth Barker has a Social Science Degree - Child Development and Family Studies and a Montessori Preschool Diploma. With thirty-one years experience, she is a confident advocate for childhood development. Ruth is a proud member of The Australian Tutoring Association and a student member of Occupational Therapy Australia. She is also, a former Citizen of the Year, a Pride of Australia Medal runner-up and twice awarded in 2016 and 2017 with Academic Excellence in the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the Chancellor of Southern Cross University.
